WASHINGTON The Democratic caucus in the Senate blocked for a third day today a financing project for the Department of Homeland Security which includes amendments to undermine the actions of President Barack Obama on migration.
With 52 votes in favor and 47 against, the drivers of -and measure passed in the House of Reps were eight votes of the 60 needed to open the debate on it.
The own leader of the Republican majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, changed his vote to «no» in order to preserve its ability to resubmit the project costs 40 billion dollars in that wing of the Capitol.
The initiative financed dependent agencies of the portfolio of Homeland Security-whose funds expire at the close of this month until the end of this fiscal year, but includes provisions aimed at torpedoing the relief implemented by Obama for immigrants.
One amendment attacks the program differs deportation of migrant children, known as DACA (Consideration of Deferred Action for Chilhood), while another seeks to annul amnesty Hindmost first announced in November by which they could remain in the country and obtain work permit more than 4.5 million undocumented immigrants.
McConnell expressed optimism Thursday about the passage of the measure in the Senate will resolve this at some point in the coming weeks, he said.
The day before, Obama reiterated that he will veto any legislation that attempts to rescind its unilateral actions on immigration issues.
