Petróleos Mexicanos signed a memorandum of understanding with Nova Energy Infrastructure, SAB de CV (IEnova), together with its subsidiary Sempra LNG, for the development of a proposed liquefied natural gas terminal located on your receipt, storage and regasification Energía Costa Azul, located in Ensenada, Baja California.
This agreement lays the foundation for collaboration for the parties define the extent of their participation in the project, including the development, structure, and the terms under which PEMEX could become a customer and / or investor.
Thus, PEMEX will be able to strengthen its position in natural gas markets and lay the groundwork to enable it to participate in other regions of the world, capturing the economic benefit resulting from the price differential.
This is the first project of a liquefaction plant in Mexico, which Petróleos Mexicanos confirms its intention to build partnerships in the energy market. Its development will support Mexico’s trade policy by increasing exports and promoting trade relations of the country abroad.
The signatories to the memorandum have extensive experience in this type of project and work in coordination with existing customers of the terminal to make this project a reality.
