WASHINGTON.- The new National Security Strategy (ESN) of the United States, signed by President Barack Obama, confirms the use of force as an option of first order in US global hegemonic intentions for the coming years.
The document states that this country will use its military power unilaterally when it considers a threat to its interests and those of its allies are threatening the lives of citizens and as an essential tool to support diplomacy anywhere in the world.
However, recognizing that this is not the only tool at their disposal, nor the principal means of consolidating their commitments, and not always the most effective method to address the challenges in the global arena, for which also features other punitive measures .
The text, presented today by the national security adviser in the White House, Susan Rice, highlights the claim of global leadership that Washington claims for itself, noting that «the question is not whether the United States must lead (the world) but how we will. »
