El calentamiento del planeta no es un cuento
Desde la revolución industrial en el último tercio del siglo XIX a la fecha han pasado 144 años aproximadamente, apenas un siglo y medio más o menos han sido suficientes para que el ser humano ponga de cabeza al planeta. Este tiempo si lo comparamos con la existencia de la Tierra corresponderá a quizá a un minuto, o un segundo.
En ese minuto la especie humana está acabando con su mundo, el único planeta con vida en el universo, al menos hasta hoy no se ha descubierto otro que tenga las mismas características, se trata de planetas inertes, sin vida, como el vecino Marte.
La Tierra fotografiada desde el espacio es en hermoso planeta azul y blanco, son sus océanos y sus nubes blancas, sus continentes, sus ríos, bosques y selvas, sus volcanes y desiertos. La Tierra, el planeta con vida, el planeta cubierto o rodeado por una atmósfera que contiene el vital oxígeno para hacer posible la vida.
¿Cómo se formó la Tierra? No se sabe, la ciencia tiene sus teorías, pero la verdad no se sabe, que se haya formado un planeta tan perfecto y hermoso tiene otra explicación, la ciencia más moderna no puede saberlo aunque todo lo someta a la ley de la evolución. La ciencia dice que el mismo ser humano es producto de la evolución, pero ese perfecto ser, que la ciencia jamás podrá hacer algo igual, dotado de todo, no pudo surgir sólo del proceso evolutivo, existe una fuerza superior que lo formó. El ser humano fue como lo último de la creación, lo que le faltaba al maravilloso planeta.
La ciencia registra la presencia del ser humano cuando el planeta ya tenía todo, ya nada le faltaba, sólo un ser inteligente que se encargara de su cuidado.
Sin embargo ese ser humano estuvo en paz con la naturaleza por mucho tiempo, quizás por un millón años, sólo mataba especies de animales para sobrevivir y aprovechar sus pieles, sólo tiraba algunos árboles para construir sus rudimentarias casas. El ser humano destruía, sí, pero en mínima escala, la naturaleza se recuperaba automáticamente de esas pérdidas.
A medida que ese ser humano se fue multiplicando por todo el planeta fue creciendo el daño a los recursos naturales, a las especies de la tierra y el mar, pero aun así la Tierra soportaba esos efectos dañinos de los grupos humanos.
Fue con la llegada de la era moderna, pasando la segunda mitad del siglo XIX cuando, con la presencia de las máquinas, y los nuevos inventos, cuando se inicia la destrucción de los recursos del planeta.
Con los primeros ingenios, las primeras plantas petroleras, las máquinas para la producción en serie de productos diversos, con las primeras locomotoras, se inicia la verdadera contaminación del mundo. La era moderna fue negativa para el planeta.
El ser humano sólo ha necesitado 15 décadas para poner de cabeza al único planeta que tiene para vivir. A 150 años de la era moderna los daños son enormes y casi irreversibles: se derriten los hielos de los polos, basura del mundo llega hasta esos lugares remotos, la especies marinas están en peligro de extinción, lo mismo sucede con la especies de los continentes, los bosque y selvas son arrasados cada año por la industria maderera y los gobiernos, el desordenado crecimiento demográfico le quita miles de hectáreas cada año a la tierra agrícola y a las zonas boscosas, el agua dulce subterránea y superficial enfrenta un proceso de contaminación por las miles de industrias que arrojan sus aguas residuales.
Todo este daño en conjunto ha traído como consecuencia el calentamiento gradual del planeta, el cambio climático.
Advierten científicos del mundo que de continuar este daño ambiental, en el año 2100 la temperatura del planeta podría elevarse en 8 grados y el nivel del mar subiría, lo que traería consecuencias graves a la agricultura, habría una aguda escasez de alimentos y agua en un mundo superpoblado, habría en la Tierra en términos medios y conservadores unos 15 o 16 mil millones de seres humanos.
Siempre se dice que estamos a tiempo de parar o frenar la destrucción del planeta, pero sólo se dice, poco se hace, los daños continúan cada vez en mayores proporciones, no se ve la más mínima señal de que se reduzcan los niveles de contaminación.
Se dice que a la humanidad le deparan años de gloria con el avance de la ciencia y el desarrollo tecnológico en los próximos cien años, sin embargo, en los hechos se ve todo lo contrario, a mayor ciencia, mayor daño. Pasando el 2100, el mundo podría pasar por años dramáticos por el daño ambiental.
Sin embargo, aún se espera el milagro, que la sociedad mundial y sus gobiernos por fin se den cuenta que este es el único mundo que tenemos, que no hay otro, por lo menos hoy se desconoce su existencia, y aun suponiendo que existiera, ¿en dónde estará? ¿ a cuántos años luz de distancia? La ciencia de ese tiempo no sería capaz de alcanzarlo aún.
La Tierra seguirá siendo por siglos y quizás por milenios el único mundo donde podemos vivir, pero si la especie humana sólo necesitó 150 años en promedio para causarle severos daños, quizás le lleve otros 150 años, o menos, para acabar con todo, el proceso de destrucción va muy rápido. La ciencia avanza, la destrucción también.
