El avión, con 53 pasajeros -31 de ellos de China continental, y cinco tripulantes- se precipitó en el río Keelung pocos minutos después del despegue cuando una de sus alas rozó un taxi en una autopista en una elevación.
Según se reportó, el primer ministro chino, Li Keqiang, también dio instrucciones para fortalecer las comunicaciones y los contactos con la isla de Taiwán y ofrecer la ayuda que necesiten.
