SENER presented today to the Federal Regulatory Improvement Commission (COFEMER) to submit to the regulatory public consultation a set of Administrative Provisions that establish obligations of licensees LP gas distribution for investments in operations, maintenance and training increase, to improve safety conditions that operates this industry.
The provisions oblige licensees LPG to carry out an annual maintenance program where goals and deadlines are established to determine which facilities and vehicles will be allocated to maintenance, human resources training and subject to estimated amount invested in such activities.
This maintenance program shall be submitted to the authorities during the first 10 days of November and will run along the following year.
The Administrative Provisions raised by SENER state that 41 cents per kg of LPG will be dedicated to one replacement of equipment, maintenance and training. These measures do not in any way increase the final price to the consumer.
It is estimated that this funding mechanism collect about 3,500 million pesos a year to be invested by the permit holders companies in the activities contained in the maintenance schedule.
With this arrangement the annual economic resources for industrial safety is guaranteed and will significantly increase the progress already achieved in the first two years of his term, in which 3,800 million pesos that allowed substitute 2,334,881 cylinders, 2,795 delivery vehicles were invested and 41.386 stationary tanks that do not fulfill the conditions suitable for their operation. 5,432 maintenance support was also granted to plants 125.244 carburetion and support for vehicle maintenance.
With the approval and implementation of the Administrative General Provisions COFEMER submitted to the security conditions in the handling and use of LPG, in coordination with the licensees and industry associations are strengthened.
The public consultation process to take place COFEMER will last a maximum of 20 working days.
