Mayor Tony Gali received the members of the National Association of Mexican World Heritage Cities, which held in Beijing the first Ordinary General Assembly of 2015 to establish the lines of work that will strengthen conservation strategies and promotion of tourism in these sites .
With the presence of Nuria Sanz, Director and Representative of UNESCO in Mexico, the Mayor said it is crucial to leverage the potential they possess the Heritage Cities, features for its architectural, cultural and historical heritage.
He stressed that his administration is committed to the preservation of landmarks and historical sites of the town, on par to promote its dissemination in the national and international scene.
Tony Gali recalled that Mexico is the fourth country in the world with the highest number of declared by UNESCO as World Heritage cities; therefore, the importance of joining efforts to ensure its preservation and promote social participation in this work.
Given their counterparts in various municipalities and special guests mentioned that Puebla is working on perfecting Smart City model, with a focus on inclusion and equity.
Mauricio Trejo, Mayor of San Miguel de Allende, President of the National Association of Mexican World Heritage Cities, welcomed because Puebla is worthy host of this Assembly, while recognizing their progress in the area of urban development.
«Today, Puebla is an example of urbanism. Unesco requires that you enter the field of urbanism, is a moral imperative, it is a year in which the Heritage Cities have to go into that, «he said.
