El Secretario de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, Juan José Guerra Abud, recibió en sus oficinas a la Ministra de Infraestructura y Medio Ambiente de los Países Bajos, Melanie Schultz van Haegen, para explorar posibilidades de ampliar la cooperación en temas de medio ambiente y continuar fortaleciendo la colaboración en el tema del agua.
El titular de la SEMARNAT señaló la urgencia de llegar a acuerdos y compromisos tangibles en la 21 Conferencia de las Partes (COP21) sobre Cambio Climático a celebrarse en París, Francia, que involucren a todos los países según sus capacidades y responsabilidades en la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero, así como alcanzar propuestas reales de financiamiento.
La Ministra Schultz van Haegen reconoció la voluntad política del gobierno mexicano para avanzar ante los retos que el cambio climático representa y la creación de valiosos instrumentos como la Ley General, la Estrategia y la Comisión Intersecretarial de Cambio Climático. Al mismo tiempo, destacó el Plan Hídrico Integral de Tabasco, implementado con ayuda de expertos de los Países Bajos, con la finalidad de evitar inundaciones.
Ambos funcionarios coincidieron en el potencial de cooperación de México y Países Bajos en otros temas ambientales como bosques, agua, movilidad sustentable y gestión integral de residuos.
A nombre del Gobierno de la República, el Secretario Guerra extendió una invitación al gobierno neerlandés para participar en la Décimo Tercera Reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes (COP-13) del Convenio sobre Diversidad Biológica (CBD), la cual se llevará a cabo en México en diciembre de 2016.
En este encuentro participaron la Directora General de Movilidad y Transporte, Lidewijde Ongering; el Director Adjunto para Asuntos Internacionales del Agua, Willem Mak; el Coordinador y Asesor de Asuntos Internacionales, Bob Oeloff; la Asesora de Asuntos Internacionales y Protocolo, Pam Bosman; el Subsecretario de Gestión para la Protección Ambiental, Rafael Pacchiano; el Titular de la Unidad Coordinadora de Asuntos Internacionales (UCAI) de la SEMARNAT, Enrique Lendo Fuentes; y la Directora General Adjunta de Cooperación Internacional de la UCAI, Neydi Cruz García.
The Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, Juan José Guerra Abud, received in his office the Minister of Infrastructure and Environment of the Netherlands, Melanie Schultz van Haegen, to explore possibilities of expanding cooperation in environmental issues and continue strengthening collaboration on water issues.
The holder of the SEMARNAT noted the urgency of reaching agreements and tangible commitments in the 21 Conference of the Parties (cop21) on Climate Change to be held in Paris, France, involving all countries according to their abilities and responsibilities in issuing greenhouse gases and achieve real funding proposals.
The Minister Schultz van Haegen recognized the political will of the Mexican government to move forward to the challenges that climate change poses and creating valuable instruments such as the General Act, Strategy and the Interministerial Commission on Climate Change. At the same time, he highlighted the Tabasco Integral Water Plan, implemented with the help of experts from the Netherlands, in order to prevent flooding.
Both officials agreed on the potential for cooperation of Mexico and the Netherlands on other environmental issues such as forests, water, sustainable mobility and integrated waste management.
On behalf of the Government of the Republic, the War Secretary extended an invitation to the Dutch government to participate in the Thirteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-13) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which will be held in Mexico in December 2016.
